The Social Psychology of Organizing Book Cover The Social Psychology of Organizing
Karl E Weick

We offer the present series, Topics in Social Psychology, pointed toward the student with no prior background in social psychology, as an alternative to the old, broad introductory textbook. Taken as a whole, the series adequately covers the field of social psychology, but it has the advantage that each short book was written by an expert in the area.

Karl Weick’s contribution to the series centers on the psychology of organizing – when and why people do it. In a sense, this is an old, but central problem of social psychology. However, Weick offers a fresh theoretical approach that provides us oldsters with new insights while maintaining the proper level of difficulty for an introductory text.
